This project included the renovation of 4,700 SF of existing space, and a 2,700 SF addition to bring it into compliance with the current standards of the Kentucky Department of Libraries & Archives. The library includes a main circulation area, internet access stations, children’s area, adult stacks, reading spaces, staff support spaces, and a community meeting room. The renovation work included retrofitting the existing flat roof with a trussed sloped roof, and covering the existing precast concrete panel façade with a new EIFS façade for an upgraded appearance.
Mechanical systems include gas-fired furnace units and DX cooling units, and a make up air unit which provides required outside air for the facility. Electrical system features include direct/indirect pendent lighting for the library, Category 5e communications wiring throughout the facility for telephone and data network systems, and duct smoke detection.
