Chapman Technical Group provided engineering services for improvements at the Philippi/Barbour County Regional Airport in Philippi, WV. The airport has a single, paved, lighted 3,275-foot long by 60-foot wide runway. The facilities at the airport consist of a multi-tenant building, individual and community storage hangars, and 100 LL Avgas. Services under this contract included preparation of construction plans and specifications and contract documents for runway and apron rehabilitation, RSA improvements, hangar construction, and perimeter fencing installation projects. The services also include environmental assessments, construction administration, and resident construction observation.
An airfield improvement project to rehabilitate the existing asphalt surface of Runway 8/26 consisted of repairing existing cracks and joints by placing a hot-poured crack and joint sealing filler; applying an asphalt emulsion slurry surface treatment; and placing new airfield pavement markings. That project was completed in 2015.
In 2018, a 60-foot by 65-foot box hangar project was completed.
