As Phase I of this project, GRW designed Toyota Tsusho of America’s new on-site facility at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Plant in San Antonio, Texas. The complex includes blanking and slitting lines; a 226,000 SF coil steel warehouse with traveling bridge cranes; a 23,900 SF Green Metals, Inc. warehouse; and three other buildings. The coil steel is used for the Toyota Tundra truck doors, hoods and fenders; the Green Metals warehouse is a metal recycling center. The San Antonio plant will build 150,000 Tundra trucks a year.
GRW also designed the tenant fitup for the supplier consortium, which is located inside the main Toyota North America Plant. GRW served as the design/build criteria consultant for Phase II, which included the design of a 70,000 SF expansion to the coil steel warehouse.
