An airfield improvement project to rehabilitate the existing asphalt surface of Runway 13/31 consisted of repairing existing cracks and joints by placing a hot-poured crack and joint sealing filler; applying a refined coal tar emulsion surface treatment; and placing new airfield pavement markings. The project was completed in 2016.
Chapman Technical Group also provided design and construction management services for a project to rehabilitate a portion of the aircraft parking apron and the construction of an exit taxiway. The scope of the project included milling 2" of pavement over the area to be rehabilitated, repairing any remaining cracks, and overlaying the surface with 2" of new FAA Specification P-401 HMA pavement. The exit taxiway was constructed to provide access to a grass aircraft parking area utilized for the fly-in camping area located adjacent to the airport.
