U.S. Penitentiary and Satellite Camp Health Services Facility, McCreary County, KYGRW led the design effort for the Design-Build team for a new United States Penitentiary and Federal Prison Camp in McCreary County, Kentucky.
The main facility is a maximum-security facility that will house 960 inmates. It also has facilities to hold 120 inmates in a segregation housing component. The campus plan places the 2-story housing units in a horseshoe arrangement to form an enclosed centralized space between the residential buildings, the program/services support, and the recreation buildings.
The Inmate Receiving and Discharge Area/Health Services Facility includes an ambulatory X-ray suite, dental operatory and labs, pharmacy and associated administrative support areas. This 9,967 SF portion of the prison replicates all functions of a health clinic with additional security features.
